Vancouver, Alaska and the Inside Passage (Aug 29 - Sept 13)  This year began with a cruise from Vancouver to Alaska. We left Wolfville on August 29th for Vancouver where we spent some time  exploring the city and area. We boarded the ship on Sunday September 1st and arrived home after a stop in Toronto and London  (Ontario) on September 12. Cozumel in December (Nov 30 - Dec 16) Our first trip to warmer weather was to return to the Iberostar resort on Cozumel, Mexico for two weeks. Friends we have met either on-line or during previous stays were also planning on being there during this time, so we were in for some great company and good times above the water as well as in and underneath its surface. We left Wolfville on November 31st and returned on December 16th, just in time to get into the full swing of Christmas. Cozumel in February (Feb 1 - 15, 2014) Our second trip south brought us back to Cozumel and the Iberostar resort. Again, we were treated to the company of friends, this time Lori & Scott (not at the Iberostar) and Lee & Diana. Cuba in March (Mar 12-19, 2014) We returned to Cuba with the hope of finding better snorkeling and diving and that lead us to the Holguin area. We were joined by the Callahan-Cross family and it made for a great family vacation. The diving was not what I hoped for, primarily due to the dive operation that offered much less service than I’ve come to expect. The snorkeling was fun. Akumal, Mayan Riviera, Mexico (April 26 - May 3, 2014) One of our other favourite places is the little village of Akumal about 20 minutes south of Playa del Carmen and 15 minutes north of Tulum. In previous years we have stayed at the Hotel Akumal Caribe, right on Akumal beach and very close to the dive shop, Akumal Dive Center. This year we decided to try one of the condos on Half Moon Bay, the bay to the immediate north of Akumal bay. This meant a bit of a hike (or bike ride) to get to Akumal beach and the dive shop, but the view was great and the journey to Akumal was not too bad. However, next time we’ll rent a car for the stay.
